Lexus vehicles have always been the standard by which other luxury vehicles are judged, and the newly updated 2018 RC is no exception. Its polarizing design, performance, quality, and sophistication continually affirm the brand's pursuit of perfection. This year, Lexus has aimed a bit higher with the latest refresh of its RC coupe.

A few additional horses

All V-6 models, including the RC 300 AWD, RC 350 RWD, and RC 350 AWD, will receive an additional five horsepower than the outgoing model. The 3.5-liter V-6 now produces 241 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. of torque. The engine will still be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The higher output 3.5-liter on the 350 models now makes 311 horsepower and 277 lb-ft. of torque. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine found on the RC base model remains capable of 241 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. While the engine stays the same, the formerly known RC 200t gets a name change, the RC 300 RWD.

More options, more control

Lexus also added two new driving modes for F Sport models, including Sport S+ and Custom. Sport S+ tunes the Adaptive Variable Suspension for ideal handling, while Custom allows drivers to tinker with certain powertrain and suspension settings.

Tech and safety now standard

If you opt for the available navigation system, you'll get the new 10.3-inch infotainment screen. All RC models will also receive complimentary Enform Safety Connect and Enform Service Center for the first 10 years. The safety software provides 24/7 support in the event of an accident, and the service component alerts drivers when their RC is due for service, going so far as to notify them of their preferred dealership. A number of other tech features are offered for a limited time as well: EnformĀ® Destination Assist and Wi-Fi have been made free for a year; ScoutĀ® GPS now comes with a three-year trial; and the Lexus Safety System+, including a number of advanced safety features, has been made standard for 2018.

Last but not least, Flare Yellow has been added as a new exterior color in F Sport models. It joins the joins the exclusive Rioja Red.
