When the Volvo XC90 originally won North American Truck of the Year in 2003, 3Birds Template was excited that Volvo received such a prestigious award. Now that the XC90 has earned this award for a second time, we are even more elated and couldn’t wait to share the news with our loyal customers.
The award panel
The North American Truck of the Year Award is unlike most other awards in the United States and Canada. The 2016 award, based on a jury of 53 independent automotive journalists, chose the XC90 for several reasons including its blend of innovative technology, superb comfort and driving dynamics, and its outstanding design.
Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA, recently said, “We are absolutely thrilled that the XC90 has won this prestigious and most respected award. And there is a lot more to come. By 2019, Volvo will have a totally renewed product portfolio. By then the all-new XC90 will be the oldest car in the showroom.”
Winning features
The XC90 has a lot to offer. It includes features such as:
- Range-topping T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain takes it to the top of its class as a 7-seater. This provides unparalleled performance and efficiency in the premium SUV segment.
- A tablet-like touch display, Apple CarPlay®, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system. These complete its progressive design.
- City Safety—Volvo’s name for its automated brake functionality—which delivers unmatched security and reliability.
