The Volvo S60, V60, and XC60 luxury SUV with Active Dual Xenon headlamps have all been awarded a TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from IIHS, while the S90 luxury sedan and XC90 luxury SUV won the TOP SAFETY PICK designation for 2017.

An August 2016 report from IIHS showed that cars outfitted with Volvo City Safety, which included vehicle detection, reduced rear-end crashes by 43% and those with injuries by 45%. In 2017, Volvo is taking its commitment to safety even further. 2017 Volvo S90 and XC90 models will include large animal detection with automatic emergency braking, aimed at further preventing or mitigating accidents on the road.
