Just because you’re on the go doesn’t mean you need to be cut off from the rest of the world, right? Volkswagen thinks so too, which is why the company is proud to announce the launch of its next-generation modular infotainment center, the MIB II. Introduced this July for the first time in the US, the MIB II is available in almost all 2016 VW models.
This next generation of infotainment system boasts some upgrades compared to its predecessor, such as crisper graphics, higher resolution, and faster processing speeds, because even when it comes to technology, VW drivers love speed, quality, and looking good.
The majority of MIB II systems feature capacitive touch screens, similar to those found on smartphones and tablets. This allows drivers to use gestures they’re already familiar with—such as pinch-zooming and swiping—while driving their car. To improve safety, the MIB II system uses a proximity sensor to switch the display, making it easier for the driver to select certain features.
The MIB II serves as the platform for VW’s Car-Net platform, allowing VW drivers to stay connected no matter where they roam. The Car-Net platform’s connectivity tech falls into three primary categories: Security & Service, Guide & Inform, and App-Connect.
There are a wide variety of features included in the Security & Service category, including Automatic Crash Notification, which notifies operators if the vehicle has been in an accident; Roadside Assistance, improving driver peace of mind should their car unexpectedly break down; and Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance, helping assist law enforcement if a vehicle is stolen.
Guide & Inform not only helps VW drivers with GPS navigation, but also fuel prices, sports scores, and weather data. No need to pull out your phone—just glance over at the crisp colors of your 5-8 inch touchscreen.
Speaking of phones, VW drivers interested in connecting their devices to their vehicle are in luck with App-Connect. In addition to Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™, Volkswagen drivers can also use MirrorLink®, ensuring that almost no matter what form of smartphone they have, they’ll be able to use it with their vehicle.
These are just a few of the ways Volkswagen makes it easier than ever for drivers to stay connected with the world, even while on the road. To try out these features for yourself, be sure to contact us online or stop by 3Birds Template today.
