Here at 3Birds Template, we’re excited that Volkswagen has announced the debut of the 2016 Volkswagen Passat, especially when you consider that it’s built at the world’s only LEED Platinum-certified manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Here’s what else we find exciting about the new Passat.
First, it looks far more aggressive than its predecessor. As Klaus Bischoff, Head of Design at Volkswagen, said, “We applied a progressive design strategy with the new Passat, giving the car a dynamic presence and a more sophisticated look. We have integrated several new design elements, including a sculpted, domed hood that significantly sets the car apart from its predecessor.” Add in energy-efficient (not to mention stylish) LED headlights and taillights--available for the first time on a VW sedan—and you have yourself one good looking vehicle.
But the 2016 Passat doesn’t just look good on the outside. This newest version sports an upgraded interior, including high quality materials, new steering wheel and column stalk design, a mixture of chrome, piano black trim, and tone-tone décor panels, and a new instrument panel. In terms of technology, the new Passat boasts Volkswagen’s second-generation modular infotainment platform, USB and Bluetooth® connectivity, not to mention the Volkswagen Car-Net® system. Car-Net® is what allows the 2016 Passat to connect with most smartphones through Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™ and MirrorLink®.
And don’t forget about power. In the US, the Passat will come with two available powertrains: the 1.8-liter TSI® four cylinder and the 3.6-liter VR6® engine. That latter option will get you 280 horsepower, a considerable amount in the midsize sedan class. With the 1.8-liter engine and automatic transmission, drivers can expect an EPA estimated highway fuel economy rating of 38 mpg.*
