While the Chicago Auto Show doesn’t garner the same level of hype as its Detroit-based counterpart, this year’s show was quite the event for Toyota. The Japanese automaker showed off not one, not two, but three exciting models to eager onlookers from across the globe.
The 2016 Avalon debuted alongside Special Edition Camry and Corolla models. Refreshed and revamped, the newest Avalon mixes Toyota’s legendary quality, durability, and reliability and adds improved performance and a host of tech features to its accomplished resume.
Let’s start on the outside, where the 2016 Avalon now sits on new standard and redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels. The 2016 Avalon also boasts a wider and lower front grille, along with newly-designed turn signals that replace the current model year’s fog lights. Nothing grabs the attention quite like dynamic LED taillights, which have been refined for 2016. Meanwhile, a new chrome bumper accent adds even more visual flair.
Inside, the 2016 Avalon benefits from new gray accent stitching with light gray interior. But more than just visual improvements, the 2016 Avalon boasts new standard equipment, such as a seven-inch Entune Audio Plus screen, premium woodgrain dash ornamentation, and Tire-specific Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
But it doesn’t stop there. The XLE Premium also gets some love in the form of technology upgrades. These include Entune Premium Audio with Navigation and App Suite, and Qi Wireless charging. Not to be overlooked, the performance-tuned Avalon Touring adds to its sporty styling with redesigned dark gray 18-inch alloy wheels, new sporty front fascia, LED daytime running lights, and a unique “Touring’ badge.
Rounding out the list of upgrades is the Avalon Limited’s 18-inch alloy Super Chrome wheels. The Limited also gets access to a number of optional safety features, such as automatic high beam headlights, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System, and Lane Departure Alert.
It’s clear that the 2016 Avalon will carry on the brand’s reputation for quality, but with so many visual enhancement, Toyota clearly wants to capture the eyes and imaginations of sedan shoppers as well. With the 2016 Avalon, we think they’re on their way to doing just that.
