Cadillac is expanding its range, and here at 3Birds Template, we couldn’t be more excited about it. With production beginning in Detroit in January, and initial shipments to dealerships in March, the 2016 Cadillac Touring 6 sedan should prove to be the new top-of-the-line pick for luxury sedan shoppers.
What sets the CT6 apart from other luxury sedans on the market are its unprecedented levels of performance, efficiency, and agility, all thanks to Cadillac’s new vehicle manufacturing and design methods.
As Johan de Nysschen, president of Cadillac, said, “The CT6 is an entirely new approach to prestige luxury, adding driving dynamics and technology while reducing the bulk of traditional large sedans. With the CT6, Cadillac has a competitive edge: our use of advanced lightweight construction and innovative technology, it is prestige luxury reimagined.”
The CT6’s body is made from rigid yet lightweight materials. Not only does this make the vehicle more nimble, but when paired with active-on all-wheel drive, active rear steering, and the available Active Chassis System’s Magnetic Ride Control, it makes for an exceptionally smooth and comfortable ride.
Powering that ride are three available engines: the CT6 2.0L Turbo, which starts at $53,495;* the CT6 3.6L V6 with AWD, which starts at $55,495,* and the CT6 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 with AWD, which starts at $64,395.* Rated at 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, the Cadillac 3.0L Twin Turbo V-6 engine makes for an impressively powerful sedan.
That being said, the 3.6-liter V-6 is capable of 335 horsepower, and even the 2.0-liter Turbo is nothing to sneeze at. No matter the engine they choose, drivers will find them paired with an 8-speed transmission.
Looking even farther into the future, Cadillac has announced that it’s planning on making the CT6 available with plug-in hybrid technology, though more information on that option will be made available closer to when the vehicle is launched.
