The 2016 Detroit Auto Show is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) automotive event of the year. With so many interesting and great vehicles on display, it’s not easy stealing the spotlight, but that's exactly what Nissan did with the unveiling of two jaw-dropping concept vehicles: the Nissan TITAN Warrior Concept and the Nissan IDS Concept.
Let’s start with Nissan’s truck concept. The TITAN Warrior is a design study created to demonstrate how the Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine-equipped TITAN X can be adapted for off-road adventures in addition to its heavy-lifting duties.
As with any good concept, the TITAN Warrior is visually engaging, sporting a number of unique exterior and interior design treatments, as well as a modified off-road suspension. Although the TITAN XD only just arrived at dealerships across the country in December, Nissan is already keen to show off what could be in store for future TITAN models.
Nissan IDS Concept
Also making its first North American appearance was the Nissan IDS Concept autonomous driving vehicle and zero emission electric vehicle. It pairs cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) with advanced vehicle control and safety technologies to create one of the most compelling models, concept or otherwise, we’ve witnessed in a long time.
The development of autonomous vehicle technology has been the focus of the automotive industry for some time now, with many automakers eager to make driving safer and more convenient for everyone. Naturally, Nissan is at the forefront of this exciting new era of driverless cars. Recently, Nissan chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn announced that the brand would launch more than 10 vehicles with autonomous drive technology by 2020, and that the technology will feature in mainstream, mass-market cars at affordable prices.
Just exactly what of the TITAN Warrior and Nissan IDS concepts will make it to production remains to be seen. But one thing is for certain – the future of the Nissan brand looks very promising.
Of course, if you simply can’t wait on the TITAN Warrior or Nissan IDS, that’s more than okay. Feel free to browse our selection of new and pre-owned vehicles in the meantime, and then contact or visit us at 3Birds Template to schedule a test drive.
