The 2017 Subaru Impreza will launch later this year. And when it does, look for it to sport a number of impressive new features that will keep you safer.
The highest-profile changes come with the Impreza’s available EyeSight® suite of safety technologies. Upgrades here include the addition of Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. In fact, the 2017 Impreza is the first Subaru model to get automatic braking when reversing if an obstacle is detected.
Steering Responsive Headlights are another particularly helpful new feature. The first steering-responsive headlights ever offered on an Impreza, they work by aiming the Impreza’s front headlights around curves in order to improve illumination at night. The responsive headlights also work at intersections by allowing the headlight to move to the left and right in accordance with steering input.
High Beam Assist is another new safety feature we know drivers will appreciate. High Beam Assist automatically switches the headlights between high and low settings depending on driving conditions. It uses a stereo camera to detect oncoming lights, and switches the high beam and low beam automatically, which in turn greatly improves safety at night and frees drivers from having to manually adjust beam settings.
The Subaru Impreza has a history of outstanding safety, and the 2017 model's new features look like they will only add to the Impreza's stellar reputation, further emphasizing the automaker's commitment to driver and occupant safety.
