The breathtaking LC 500 debuted earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show, and keen-eyed Lexus enthusiasts immediately recognized the source of the its inspiration: the 2012 LF-LC concept. The LC 500 excited us at 3Birds Template for a number of reasons.

First, it's an incredibly attractive model, one we're sure will satisfy any fan of automotive excellence. Secondly, because  the vehicle's taut styling represents a new global architecture that will also be utilized in future Lexus models, including (potentially) a crossover and a convertible.

Even more exciting? The 2018 Lexus LC 500 is due to go on sale next May. That's not terribly far away, so to hold you over until then, we'll tell you everything we know about the new model.

Thanks to a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, the 2018 LC 500 is going to sound like a dream come true. Of course, it'll do more than just sound powerful--a new dual intake, lower friction, and a better exhaust have nudged its horsepower up a few ticks from 467 to 471. Torque has also increased from 389 lb-ft to 398 lb-ft.

For the eco-conscious, the LC 500h has a few tricks up its sleeve to make the most of its 4.5-liter V6 engine and 354 horsepower, namely a multi-stage hybrid system with a four-speed final drive that allows it to feel more like a 10-speed transmission than a CVT, giving you the sporty experience you expect from a vehicle like this one.

Available in four trims (base, Touring, Sport, and Sport Plus), the 2018 LC 500 is expected to have a starting MSRP of around $90,000,* with the hybrid model bumping up the price by about $10,000.
