When it comes to transforming mere vehicles into works of art, few automakers have the skill required like Alfa Romeo. The Italian automaker has been blending its technological know-how with beautiful design for over 100 years, earning it a stellar reputation for it numerous innovations.

To honor the automakers storied history, we’re selecting seven Alfa Romeo models that have come to define the illustrious brand. From rally to road to Formula One to touring cars, these seven models highlight the brand’s penchant for passion, flair, and performance.

1. 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 Mille Miglia

Billed as one of the finest cars to ever roll out of Alfa Romeo, the 8C2900s were made for both the road and track. The car boasted a 2.9-liter in-line eight-cylinder engine. In 1999, an 8C 2900 with Pininfarina cabriolet bodywork was auctioned and sold for over $4 million, making it the tenth highest price ever paid for a car at auction at the time.

2. 1964 Alfa Romeo TZ

The TZ was Alfa Romeo’s go-to GT car during the 1960s, and for very good reason. Its 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine set the standard for pace during its time, while its dramatic sloping rear roofline cemented its place as one of the most visually captivating vehicles ever built.

3. 1970 Alfa Romeo Montreal

This particular model began life as a concept for a Motreal Expo and even made it as a production car. Under the heavily vented hood was a throaty V8 which complemented the car’s muscular lines perfectly.

4. 1968 Alfa Romeo Bertone Carabo

Powered by a 2.0-liter V8 engine, and arguably one of the most radical designs in the Alfa Romeo history books, the Bertone Carabo was based on the Alfa Type 33 Stradale chassis. That’s where the similarities end, though, with car designer Marcello Gandini penning the striking wedge shaped lines that would eventually influence modern supercar styling.

5. 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C

The 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C is a purists’ dream come true. There’s no power steering, it’s lightweight, mid-engined, and noisy in the best possible way. Not that you’d mind a 237 hp 1.7-litre turbo singing away behind your head. It’s a future classic in the making, and one that absolutely must be experienced to believe.

6. 1966 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider

The Duetto was Alfa Romeo’s homage to open top driving, presence, and exuberance on the road. Smooth body lines accentuated the sleek Italian styling of the Duetto, while a 1.6-liter engine ensured nimble handling during aggressive turns.

7. 1972 Alfa Romeo Trans-Am 1750 GTV

In the 1970s, Trans-Am was at the pinnacle of motorsport, and two manufacturers battled it out in the sub-2.0-liter class. Nissan was one, the other was Alfa Romeo's 1750 GTV. The wild machine was powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that served up 130 hp.

While the majority of the vehicles on this list are rare, hard-to-find, and in many cases demand millions of dollars to own, you can experience a modern classic at a much more reasonable price by testing out the 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C, Contact us online or visit 3Birds Template at 505 W.
