Subaru produces well-rounded vehicles with the power to take on surprising challenges. Now the automaker is teaming up with popular lifestyle apparel brand United By Blue (UBB) to co-host waterway cleanups around the country. The six events are scheduled throughout 2015 and 2016, bringing together thousands of volunteers to help make our oceans cleaner and our future brighter.
UBB is dedicated to removing one pound of trash from oceans and waterways for every product sold. Subaru is the official automotive partner of UBB’s clean-up efforts, and is also committed to protecting the environment we all share. This is the fourth year of the partnership between the two brands, and it’s making a difference. To date, UBB has removed over 243,843 pounds of trash from the oceans, beaches, rivers, and other waterways across America.
The goal for the end of 2015? Take that amount past 250,000 pounds. At 3Birds Template, we’re confident that Subaru and UBB (with the help of a few thousand dedicated volunteers) have the drive to make it happen.
The waterway cleanups started in Ellicott City, Maryland on July 25 and will conclude in Detroit, Michigan on May 21, 2016. Interested volunteers can find more information and sign up at http://www.unitedbyblue.com/collections/cleanups.
The partnership with UBB isn’t the only way Subaru is making a positive difference in the environment. The manufacturer has furthered its “Subaru Loves The Earth” initiative by building a zero landfill automotive plant in Indiana; partnering with nonprofits like Leave No Trace and the National Park Foundation; and, of course, building the fuel-efficient Subaru vehicles available at 3Birds Template.
