With over a century of history, Chevrolet has been responsible for more than its share of industry firsts. The automaker's latest advance may also be one of its most impressive. With OnStar® Proactive Alerts, Chevrolet is introducing the industry's first predictive technology that allows your vehicle to warn you about a potential maintenance need before it arises.
Inspired by the heights of innovation
Chevrolet's technology is similar to that used on a Boeing 787. Just as the aircraft sends in-flight messages to crews on the ground with information about upcoming inspection needs, Onstar® Proactive Alerts will continuously monitor the vehicle's start motor, fuel pump, and 12-volt battery and provide notification of anomalies. These service notifications will in turn help reduce the risk of expensive unexpected repairs.
The technology collects a small batch of data each time the vehicle is started and monitors it on an ongoing basis. This data is then analyzed and refined across the fleet of vehicles to determine expected performance and identify aberrations. Drivers will be notified through an in-vehicle notification as well as an email or text message based on customer preference.
Continuing the drive toward complete peace of mind
OnStar® Proactive Alerts is yet another way Chevrolet drivers will be able to enjoy unparalleled dependability and convenience behind the wheel.
“Chevrolet is already the most awarded car brand in the industry, and Silverado is the most dependable, longest lasting full-size pickup on the road,” said Steve Holland, chief technologist for Vehicle Health Management at General Motors. “With Proactive Alerts, we now can offer customers even greater peace-of-mind by taking the guesswork out of when to service their vehicle.”
This is no far-future release, either; the service is available now for OnStar® subscribers who own a 2016 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette, or Equinox. If you're interested in learning more, contact the experts at 3Birds Template today.
