Nissan showed off the Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo at last year's Tokyo Motor Show, and we were pretty excited about it at 3Birds Template. Why? Not only is the Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo a gorgeous vehicle, but it was thought that the next-gen GT-R would take design cues from it as well. Rumors had the newest generation of Nissan GT-R debuting as early as 2017...so you can imagine our feelings when we found out that it won't be out until at least 2020.

In an interview with Motoring, Nissan Australia’s managing director Richard Emery had this to say about the next-gen GT-R: “It’s certainly not 2018, and I can’t see it even in 2019. It’s not on the product plan list for that period.” But the news isn't all doom and gloom. Nissan plans to refresh the GT-R for 2016, updating the chassis to meet new US crash safety standards.

Although we were hoping to get the next-gen GT-R before the end of the decade, we're pleased to learn that Nissan has more to give us in the R35 GT-R we have right now. There have even been hints that the R35 GT-R might be able to beat the GT-R Nismo’s 600 horsepower, which would be extremely impressive. Even more impressive? The next-gen GT-R is supposed to have a powertrain developed in part by Williams Engineering, one potentially capable of reaching up to 1,250 horsepower.

We still have a while to wait until we'll be able to see the next-gen GT-R in the flesh, but until then, we have plenty of new and used Nissan models to tide you over. Call, contact us online, or swing by the dealership in person and we'll schedule a test drive for you.
