The Volvo ownership experience is about to get even more compelling (and convenient) thanks to a new initiative from the Swedish luxury automaker.
Owning and maintaining a vehicle can be time-consuming, but it’s about to become more manageable thanks to Volvo Concierge Services, the first expandable ecosystem that connects car owners with convenient services via a smartphone app.
The new connected-car technology app from Volvo could effectively end the need for time-consuming trips to the gas station and make it easier for Volvo owners to service their vehicles.
“Volvo Concierge Services will mean that you never have to stand out in the rain to fill your car again,” said Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA. “At Volvo Cars our mission is to make life less complicated, and this is a great example of how in-car technology can be used to deliver this.”
The app and service were developed in response to changing consumer behavior. According to Volvo research, 70 percent of consumers surveyed said they want fueling services at their fingertips, while 56 percent said they want their car taken in for maintenance.
The entire process is simple and safe. A one-time-use digital key grants access to authorized providers. Once services are complete, the car is locked and the digital key expires. The vehicle can then be returned to where the owner left it or delivered to a completely new location upon request.
Services such as filling the tank, having the car cleaned, and trips for scheduled maintenance can all be accomplished without owner involvement, providing an added level of convenience and freeing owners up for more meaningful activities.
The app is currently undergoing a pilot program in the San Francisco Bay area. It will soon ramp up to allow 300 invited drivers of new Volvo XC90 SUVs and S90 luxury sedans to order services such as remote fuel delivery, valet car cleaning, and Volvo maintenance.
It’s no secret that consumers want the vehicle ownership process to evolve, and Volvo is ready to meet those demands head-on. For more information, contact us or visit 3Birds Template at 505 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
