At the New York International Auto Show, Nissan introduced the world to the new 2017 GT-R. The significantly enhanced model features a new look and driving performance upgrades for a fresh new experience. Even if you've been a fan since the model's debut in 2007, you're sure to find a few surprises under the hood of the transformed supercar.
A thoroughly modern makeover
The GT-R's updated styling is apparent at first glance, starting with the enlarged "V-motion" grille. In addition to making a powerful statement with a matte chrome finish and updated mesh pattern, the grille also provides better engine cooling.
The grille is augmented with pronounced, flowing character lines while a new spoiler lip and bumper highlight the front-end. Don't worry--iconic GT-R hallmarks such as the four-ring taillights are still incorporated for a look that blends classic style with a futuristic approach.
The heart of a champion
The 2017 GT-R features an upgraded version of its award-winning 3.8-liter V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine, now delivering 565 horsepower and 467 pounds-feet of torque. Each engine is handcrafted by its own Takumi technician for truly extraordinary performance.
The buffed-up powertrain means that the GT-R's acceleration is better than ever, particularly in the mid- to high ranges (3200 rpm and above). With a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, shifting is smooth, quiet, and rewarding. Of course, the GT-R can bring the noise where it counts thanks to a new lightweight titanium exhaust system and Active Sound Enhancement (ASE).
Exceptional comfort and convenience
While performance remains at the forefront of the GT-R's DNA, Nissan has also made sure that this is the most comfortable GT-R yet. "[Refinement] has been added to take the driving experience to an entirely new level," said Hiroshi Tamura, chief product specialist, GT-R, Z and NISMO, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. "We're proud to bring you what we feel is the ultimate GT-R that possesses amazing performance, newfound civility and a rich racing history."
New comfort and convenience features include:
- Active Noise Cancellation technology and new sound absorption materials
- Nappa leather-wrapped instrument panel featuring Takumi-style precision stitching
- Integrated navigation and audio controls
- Larger 8-inch capacitive touch-panel monitor
- New Display Command control on center console
