The MINI Cooper is famed the world over for its go-kart-like handling, its extroverted personality, and its individual sense of style. So you can imagine the excitement at 3Birds Template when we heard that MINI USA will soon be coming out with the new MINI Seven, the first special edition for this latest generation of MINI vehicles. We're already big MINI fans anyway, so we can't wait to get behind the wheel of these new special editions.

Available late this summer, the 2017 MINI Seven special editions will be available in Cooper and Cooper S versions of the MINI Hardtop 2 Door and 4 Door models, with pricing announced closer to the arrival of the vehicles. If you're wondering about the name, we're tempted to say that seven is simple MINI's lucky number, but that's not quite true.

Back in 1959, the first 4-seater designed by Alec Issigonis rolled off the production line as the Austin Seven. That vehicle eventually became the classic MINI of today, and so this latest special edition pays homage to the originator with the name Seven.

Designed to be a particularly striking example of British style and German engineering, the 2017 MINI Seven special editions will be available in your choice of four brilliant colors: British Racing Green, Midnight Black, Pepper White, and the most intense blue ever applied to the body of a MINI, Lapisluxury Blue. No matter which color you pick, it'll be contrasted nicely against the Melting Silver of the roof and exterior mirror caps, a color exclusively available for the design model.

In terms of performance, you'll have your choice of four engine types between the two body variants, all of which feature MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology and newly developed transmissions. Looking for an especially sporty feel? Ask for the 6-speed Steptronic sports transmission. Available as an option on the Cooper S models, it offers shorter shift times, a separate gear selector lever, and shift paddles on the steering wheel.
