Lexus is once again the top-ranked brand in vehicle dependability among all nameplates, based on the 2016 J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). This is the fifth year in a row that the automaker has received the honor, further solidifying Lexus's position as a top option for luxury drivers.
The ranking is based on the number of owner-reported problems of 2013 model-year vehicles in their third year of ownership. Lexus also received three segment awards in addition to the highest score overall:
- Compact Premium Car: Lexus ES
- Midsize Premium Car: Lexus GS
- Midsize Premium SUV: Lexus GX
The Lexus RX came in a close second in the Midsize Premium SUV category. The Lexus ES was also named the most dependable premium model overall with the lowest average number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100).

Lexus took top honors for the fifth year in a row in Kelley Blue Book's "Best Resale Value Awards" for 2016, and the Lexus RX and LS each won Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com 5-year "Cost to Own" awards in their segments. The Cost to Own awards measure costs for new vehicles during the initial five-year ownership period.
