It appears that our prayers might finally be answered—[OEM] plans to reveal a three-row RX crossover at the Tokyo Motor Show in October.
3Birds Template has more for you here.
Rumors abound
Currently, if you want a three-row Lexus vehicle, you’ll have to opt for a larger model, like the GX or LX. However, it’s rumored that the Lexus RX—one of Lexus’ top sellers—will soon stretch to accommodate a third row. Though the three-row RX will have the same wheelbase as the current RX, a longer rear overhang will add another row and an additional selling point for the popular crossover.
How the third row is likely to work
It’s unlikely that the third row will be for everyday use—like it would in the LX or GX—but rather for occasional situations that call for more seating, such as when your in-laws come to town or you take the soccer team out to pizza after practice. Of course, with all three rows full, a bit of legroom will be lost. That’s to be expected, but beyond the point—the additional seating expands the crossover’s appeal to families or anyone who needs a few more seats from time to time.
Why we'd like a 3rd-row version of the RX
Right now, you could liken each of Lexus’ three-row crossovers to a yacht built for the road. They’re a sight to behold—large and luxurious performers. For many, the RX is the perfect compromise between size, performance, and price. Offering the luxury you’ve come to expect from Lexus, the RX occupies a lower price tier but provides owners with everything they need. Thankfully, that could now include a third row.
Lexus will likely unveil the three-row RX in October, so be on the lookout. In the meantime, feel free to check out the current line of Lexus models. And of course, you’re welcome to call or contact us online about any questions you may have.
