The 2015 Tokyo Motor Show has come and gone but not before Lexus unveiled a very special model. Taking center stage at the show was the LF-FC flagship concept, a stunning new vehicle that offers a promising glimpse into the design and technology of Lexus’ future flagship sedan.

The most eye-catching aspect of the LF-FC is its stunning design. The concept features a new styling theme that embodies Lexus’ “L-finesse” design philosophy, and is a pleasure to view from any angle. The overall theme is unapologetically aggressive yet elegant, exuding the confidence and spirit of a grand touring vehicle.

At the front, the LF-FC wears an evolved version of Lexus’ signature grille that is enhanced further by a new mesh design that dominates the forward part of the vehicle, while floating “L-shaped” daytime running lights (DRL) extrude from the front fenders.

The concept is equally impressive at the rear, highlighted by striking new taillights that adopt the same floating theme as the DRL. When viewed from its profile, the LF-FC’s dynamic character is truly revealed. The roofline flows in a manner reminiscent of a “4-door coupe,” which suggests that the LF-FC is capable of dismantling even the windiest streets.

Adding to the LF-FC’s sporty character are 21-inch aluminum wheels with carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) rims.

Inside, the futuristic theme continues. The cabin has been designed in two sections, top and bottom. The top conveys a sense of openness, allowing the driver to concentrate on the road without feeling constrained. The rear seats have been designed for those who enjoy being driven. A reclining feature and plenty of head and knee space further emphasize this point.

As with any concept, there are a lot of futuristic technologies sprinkled throughout the LF-FC.  An advanced human machine interface that can be operated by simple hand gestures, without the need to interact with physical controls, is joined by holographic technology that can interpret your hand gestures to control various system features, such as audio and ventilation.

Rounding out the LF-FC’s futuristic technologies is a high-output fuel cell power system and a number of automated driving technologies, the latter of which supports Lexus vision of a world without traffic accidents.
