The Lamborghini Miura SV is a highlight of the automaker’s 1970s lineup and set a precedent for all supercars to follow. With widened wheel arches and an elegantly sloped front end, the Miura SV is as striking today as it was four decades ago. Affirming this fact, Lamborghini PoloStorico (the automaker’s heritage and restoration department) fully restored a Miura SV 400 for the recent Techno-Classica showcase in Essen, Germany.
The automaker had previously shown the Miura at last year’s event, but since then has put in more than 2,000 hours of work restoring every aspect of this classic model. Specialists reconditioned the body and components to their precise original specifications. Notably, the scissor doors had to be intricately disassembled from the body before undergoing a cataphoresis treatment to protect against corrosion. Lamborghini PoloStorico then repainted the doors in the original “Giallo” color.
Only 150 Miura SV units were produced from 1971 to 1972. The model features a 3.9-liter V12 that delivered 385 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque in its prime. The reborn Miura shared the stage with a 1974 Countach LP400 “Periscopio“ chassis currently being restored.
At Techno-Classica, Lamborghini also announced its first Lamborghini and Design series. This annual Concorso d’Eleganza will showcase Lamborghini models in a location honoring relevant architects and designers. The first event will honor modernist master Le Corbusier September 15 – 17, 2017 in La Chaux-de-Fonds at Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
