Lamborghini recently won acclaim with the release of the all-new Huracán Performante, but the automaker isn’t sitting on its laurels. In fact, Lamborghini has significantly expanded its prototype and pre-series vehicle development areas as part of its ongoing production facility growth. This investment brings Lamborghini an important step closer to the release of its “Super SUV,” the all-new Urus.

Striking the perfect note

The expansion includes a new acoustic testing room, which was officially inaugurated with the attendance of Stefano Domenicali, chairman and chief executive officer, and Maurizio Reggiani, board member for research and development of Automobili Lamborghini. This highlights one of the most crucial elements of the Lamborghini experience: that unmistakable performance note. The acoustic testing room will allow engineers to adjust particular sound sensations in order to create the quintessential Lamborghini driving experience.

Taking a load off

The new facility will also support the acoustic adjustment of the automaker’s lightweight construction components. The automaker has always excelled at creating unforgettable high-performance vehicles that feel light as a feather, and this investment ensures that future models will also convey the full Lamborghini experience. Lamborghini engineers will also use the new space to realize future vehicle concepts and drivetrain systems.

The Urus arrives in 2018

Production for the highly anticipated Lamborghini Urus has already begun with the performance-focused SUV due out by 2018. Every effort is being made to ensure the Urus is immediately identifiable as a Lamborghini both in look and performance. The engine is expected to be a 600-horsepower, turbocharged V8, and Lamborghini is placing a big emphasis on personalization. Lamborghini also intends to introduce a plug-in hybrid Urus, which should be available in 2019.
