Talk of a plug-in hybrid Lamborghini Urus has been ongoing for some time and it now looks like we can finally put the rumor to rest.

According to British magazine Autocar, Lamborghini will indeed offer a plug-in hybrid Urus, the brand’s first SUV since the LM002. The confirmation comes from Maurizio Reggiani, head of Lamborghini Research and Development.

Speaking with Autocar, Reggiani said that a plug-in Urus (concept pictured) is in the works and will be offered alongside a standard 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 Urus. It will be the automaker’s first and only plug-in hybrid across the range, with the model expected to go on sale globally in 2018.

While the inclusion of a hybrid powertrain is significant for the Lamborghini brand, the Urus will also break with company tradition by using forced induction. Since the brand’s inception, every street legal Lamborghini built has employed a naturally aspirated engine.

Lamborghini isn’t designing the Urus like a simple supercar-turned SUV – far from it. “We want to be a leader here and have a chance to change the rules of the game,“ Reggiani told Autocar.

3Birds Template expects the Urus to feature dynamic styling, exceptional power, and exquisite luxury and comfort – all qualities that have come to define the Lamborghini brand.

We are very excited for the upcoming Urus and its groundbreaking powertrain lineup. In the meantime, if it’s world-beating performance you desire, don’t hesitate to contact or visit us at 505 W.
