Soon, Jaguar drivers will no longer need a credit card—or even have to leave their car—to pay for gas. Debuting in the 2018 Jaguar F-PACE, XE and XF, the new Shell app allows owners to choose how much gas they want at a Shell service station using their vehicle’s touchscreen and pay for it through PayPal® or Apple Pay (Android Pay will be added later in 2017). The service is launching in the UK before expanding globally.

“In a world where cash is no longer king, customers are increasingly using electronic payments and contactless cards. Making a payment directly from a car’s touchscreen will make refueling quicker and easier,” said Peter Virk, Director of Connected Car and Future Technology for Jaguar Land Rover. “With this new system, you can choose any pump on the forecourt and pay for the fuel even if you’ve forgotten your wallet or can’t find your credit or debit card.”

Safe and secure

This secure and simple customer experience uses geolocation technology along with cloud-based prepayment with PayPal® or Apple Pay. The electronic receipt makes it easy to keep track of finances for budgeting and tax accounting.

“You will save time because there’s no more queuing to pay in a shop, and for drivers with children, it won’t be necessary to wake them up, or unstrap them from their seats to take them into the shop,” said Virk. “Expenses and tax returns will also be made much simpler, with no receipts to lose as these will all be sent electronically.”

Rolling out this year

The in-car cashless app is rolling out globally throughout the year and is just one of many updates for the 2018 Jaguar F-PACE, XF and XE models. Learn more about this and other exciting new features at 3Birds Template.
