When it comes to satisfying car buyers with the technology in their vehicles, no brand is better than BMW. That’s according to a new J.D. Power study, which found that BMW tops the luxury segment when it comes to in-car technology.
The study is the first of its kind by the research firm, which measured vehicle owner’s interaction with their car’s technology during the first 90 days of ownership. J.D. Power found customers to be especially satisfied with the BMW lineup's in-vehicle technology, as well as the tech’s overall performance in the following categories: Entertainment and Telematics/Connectivity; Navigation; Smartphone Connectivity; Collision Avoidance; Driving Assistance; and Comfort and Convenience.
BMW vehicles are already well-respected for their impeccable handling and driving characteristics – often setting the benchmark in their respective segments – and the findings from J.D. Power are proof positive that the German manufacturer is now setting the standard when it comes to in-car technology.
Of course, BMW’s leading position shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans, owners, and BMW buffs the world over. The BMW brand has been leading in this space since 2001, when it then introduced its iDrive system which employed a mouse-like device in the center console to control menu choices on the dashboard screen.
BMW models that ranked highest in their respective segments, according to J.D. Power’s study, are the 2 Series (small premium segment) and 4 Series (compact premium segment).
