Mazda’s Mazda6 mid-sized sedan and its compact Mazda CX-5 crossover are already highly regarded by the automotive industry, but as this year’s J.D. Power APEAL study shows, the vehicles are also highly regarded by the people who drive them. J.D. Power released the 20th U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study this July, the benchmark by which new vehicles are measured. In the study, Mazda6 and the Mazda CX-5 drivers marked them as the best of the best in their respective segments.

As you can imagine, we’re pretty excited about that. Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO), said, "We're honored that J.D. Power and our customers recognize our relentless efforts, and we look to keep building the best cars and crossovers we can to meet the needs of discerning drivers."

To put the study together, J.D. Power surveyed 84,000 drivers (buyers and lessees) of new 2015 models. The participants graded 77 different aspects of their vehicles in several categories, such as engine/transmission, comfort/convenience, and more. This year’s APEAL award is the second the Mazda6 has earned.

For two decades, the U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout study has been used by auto manufacturers to see what customers find appealing about their vehicles, and it’s clear that Mazda has been listening.
