Customers patiently waiting for an even sportier crossover from Land Rover may not have to wait much longer if reports from the U.K. prove true. 3Birds Template has learned that a new Range Rover, reportedly bigger than the popular Evoque and featuring coupe styling, is said to be in the works.

According to Automotive News, recent spy photographs snapped in Scotland hint at a longer version of the Range Rover Evoque. It goes by the code name L560, and the body cladding seen on the photograph appears to conceal a coupe-like rear end.

Land Rover has yet to confirm anything, but all the details suggest that the L560 would slot below the Range Rover Sport. Reports also suggest that it could be called the Range Rover Sport Coupe.

Keeping it in the Family

Design cues from Land Rover’s corporate sibling, the Jaguar F-PACE, which is based on the aluminum-intensive architecture underlying the XF and XE sedans, can also be seen in the photo. It is suggested that the new Range Rover will be based on the same architecture as the F-PACE.

From the vehicle’s design, and given its sporty proportions, it looks like the Range Rover Sport has models like the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe squarely in its sights.

Like those models, the new Range Rover would prioritize pure on-road performance with less regard for off-road prowess.

The Land Rover lineup continues to impress, and 3Birds Template is excited to see what the future holds for the venerated brand. Of course, we understand waiting for an entirely new model to be confirmed is less than ideal, so we encourage you to browse our large selection of new models online, or simply visit us at 505 W.
