Next year, Land Rover will introduce the all-new fifth-generation Land Rover Discovery, marking both a new era of design and a return to the Discovery nameplate for the current LR4. Building on the model’s 26 years of luxury SUV leadership and introducing a suite of new innovations, the 2017 Discovery is a fitting symbol of the Land Rover brand’s drive to go Above and Beyond – and it looks like a heck of a lot of fun to drive, too.
Full-size luxury for up to seven
The most memorable adventures are the ones shared with friends. Fittingly, one of the defining principles during the design of the new Discovery was the concept that “every seat is the best seat in the house.” The new Discovery’s flexible seating can comfortably fit up to seven full-sized adults with optional third-row seating and is instantly configurable via your Apple or Android smartphone with the automaker's world-first remote Intelligent Seat Fold technology.
Expanded possibilities with impressive all-terrain capability
The Land Rover brand’s off-roading performance DNA infuses the all-new Discovery with an almost limitless spirit of freedom. The automakers cut nearly 1,000 pounds from the weight of the outgoing LR4 for a full-size SUV that’s nimbler where it counts, whether on or off the road. The available multi-mode Terrain Response® 2 system will help ensure the best performance on any terrain, optimizing settings such as throttle sensitivity and gear change characteristics with a turn of the rotary controller.
Ground clearance has been increased to 11.1 inches with a maximum wading depth of 35.4 inches. When it’s crunch time, the new Discovery is also built to impress with an 8,201 lb. towing capacity when properly equipped.
Inimitable Land Rover style and comfort
Getting behind the wheel of a Land Rover has always been a one-of-a-kind experience, and the new Discovery looks set to continue that trend. “Design creates an emotional connection between our customers and our vehicles,” said Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Design Officer. “Our clear design strategy means our vehicles are instantly recognizable and communicate the values of Land Rover that our customers love.”
Customers will be able to specify their choice of premium materials, including genuine Windsor leather upholstery and natural oak veneers. A ‘First Edition’ model (limited to only 529 units) will also be available with exclusive features such as etched map detailing on the aluminum trim of the doors and dashboard and unique badges.
The all-new Discovery will arrive at 3Birds Template in mid-2017 with the choice of a 340-horsepower supercharged V6 or a new 245-horsepower turbo diesel V6. Your next adventure is about to start—contact 3Birds Template for details.
