By all accounts, the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze is a pretty solid compact car, but for anyone looking for added torque and the fuel efficiency of diesel, look no further. Chevy has you covered with its upcoming all-new 2018 Cruze—oh, and it starts under $25,000.*
3Birds Template has more for you here.
A new standard
While the diesel version of the Cruze will command a premium over its gas counterpart, it comes packed with additional standard features. The diesel Cruze will come with the Convenience Package, normally a $1,150 value offered on the gas-powered car, and the hatchback version will come standard with the sporty RS appearance package.
Among the most efficient
The diesel Cruze will get the same 1.6-liter turbodiesel that’ll go into the Chevy Equinox next year, but it’s calibrated for the smaller Cruze. That—in part—is what helped Chevy to earn the EPA’s rare 50-plus highway fuel economy rating; it’s only the fourth non-hybrid car to break through the barrier since 1990.
But unlike the stripped-down cars of the 90s, the Cruze manages to reach 52 mpg** as a smooth, quiet, comfortable, and fully equipped diesel sedan. It’s an impressive feat, and we’re certainly proud of the Chevy engineering team’s engineering and ingenuity.
