Colorado is shaking up the mid-size truck segment again. Chevrolet has announced that the all-new Colorado ZR2, the high-performance off-road version of the popular pickup, will be priced more than $2,500 less than its nearest competitor. That’s even more remarkable when you consider that the Colorado ZR2 comes with features you can’t even get on a vehicle costing much more.
“Some vehicles that customers might cross-shop with ZR2 can spec out as much as $26,000 more than our truck — or the price of a well-equipped 2017 Colorado,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director. “When you buy a ZR2 at the starting price of $40,995, you are getting all of the significant off-road technologies standard with the vehicle, as well as an eight-speed automatic transmission and a wealth of other features at no additional cost.”
Exclusive performance features
The 4-wheel drive Colorado ZR2 is powered by a standard 3.6L DI DOHC V6 with class-leading 308 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque. The list of standard features exclusive to the Colorado ZR2 trim includes modified front and rear bumpers for better off-road obstacle clearing and exclusive ZR2 17 x 8-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Front and rear tracks have been widened 3.5 inches over the standard Colorado and the suspension has been lifted 2 inches.
Other impressive standard features
The list goes on and on. There’s the standard heated driver and passenger front seats, wireless phone charging, sliding rear window, spray-on bed liner, and a six-speaker audio system with Chevrolet MyLink® Radio with Navigation and an 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen.
