The Detroit Auto Show is one of the biggest automotive events of the year, and Chevrolet in particular showed us a lot to get excited about. Chief among the brand’s unveilings was the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatch.

As its name suggest, the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatch is a hatchback version of Cruze sedan. It was developed with all the technologies and dynamic driving attributes of the all-new 2016 Cruze sedan, but is an additional sporty choice for customers.

While Cruze Hatch features the same 106.3-inch wheelbase as the Cruze sedan, it cranks up the style even further with a unique roof and rear-end structure, including wraparound taillamps and an integrated spoiler at the top of the rear liftgate.

As a sporty hatchback, the Cruze Hatch is as versatile as it is fun to drive. Transporting cargo is made easy thanks to the Cruze Hatch’s 22.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat. With the rear seat folded, cargo space expands to 47.2 cubic feet.

“With 9 percent market growth in small hatchbacks last year, it’s the perfect time to bring the Cruze Hatch to America,” said Alan Batey, president, General Motors North America and Global Chevrolet in a press release. “As Cruze continues to set the tone for Chevrolet globally, it articulates the brand promise of offering cars with the latest technologies, more features and greater efficiency, performance and safety with fresh, distinctive styling.”

When it debuts in the fall, the Cruze hatch will incorporate a number of in-demand technologies that are sure to see it rise to the top of its segment. An all-new, more rigid architecture lays the foundation for the Cruze’s dynamic driving character, which also plays a significant role in the vehicle’s safety and efficiency.

Other key technology in-vehicle technologies you can be sure to look forward to are a segment-exclusive standard Apple CarPlay® and AndroidAuto™ compatibility via the MyLink radio systems and available 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot. The Cruze Hatch will also employ a cutting-edge 1.4-liter turbo engine with direct injection and start/stop technologies, electric power steering.
