We're even prouder to announce that we're celebrating the 80th anniversary of the parts and accessories brand this year, and we'd like to walk back in time a bit with you to take a look at the rise of this historic brand.

Where it all began

Mopar® got its start in 1937, with a name that was a contraction of "motor parts." Though the company first got its start providing customers with things like antifreeze for their FCA vehicles, it was during the muscle car era of the '60s and '70s that it really took off. A legacy of drag races (and street races) cemented Mopar®'s place in the public consciousness as the best way to customize the best cars.

Recent history

In recent years, Mopar® has embraced a number of measures to make servicing and customizing your vehicle easier than ever, including the introduction of more than 1,000 Mopar® Express Lanes in the US; vehicle information apps to assist customers in learning more about their models; in-vehicle wireless charging, allowing customers to charge their phones more easily; wiADVISOR, factory-connected tablets in service lanes that make servicing your vehicle a smoother process; electronic vehicle tracking systems, which send the owner a text if the vehicle is driven too quickly or outside set boundaries; the ability to turn a vehicle into a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more.

Mopar® has also launched a series of special-edition vehicles (most recently, the Mopar® '16 Ram Rebel), created a Jeep Performance Parts line, as well as new Mopar® Crate HEMI® engine kits so enthusiasts can put the power of the HEMI® into older models.
