The team at Cadillac is always looking for ways to make your drive more enjoyable. The automaker has taken on the task of updating its CUE infotainment system by releasing an in-vehicle technology that is even more customer-centered, and the 3Birds Template team has more information for you here.

An integrated experience

Unlike most rival systems on the market today, the successor to CUE will remain unbranded but will become part of the vehicle experience. Just launched in the Cadillac CTS, the new system will slowly become standard as it works its way to the ATS and XTS sedans later this year. The brand’s CT6 will receive the technology in 2018.

Similar to a smartphone

Compared to CUE’s previous interface, the new offering boasts notable features that are familiar and intuitive. You can hold and drag icons and configure them however you want, which will please anyone familiar with a smartphone. You’ll even be able to swipe between menus and use pinch-to-zoom gestures of the navigation map.

The system also offers Summary View. Similar to Google Assistant, it shows you how long it will take to drive home from the office, provides accurate weather information and updates, and offers audio short-cuts, all on one screen. Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ will also be supported.

User profiles, unlimited data, and system updates

One of the new standout features is the option to have separate user profiles. Profile information is housed in the cloud and can keep track of work locations, radio presets, navigation preferences, and audio settings. This feature will be great for anyone who shares a car or frequently switches vehicles.

Cadillac also offers 4G LTE connectivity. While it’s certainly not the only automaker to do so, the company does set itself apart from the pack with its $20 unlimited data plan which ties everything together. Drivers will have access to real-time updates for maps and gas prices, and they can also stream music and Netflix to keep the kids entertained without fearing overage charges.

Another feature that sets the new system apart from the competition is its ability to upgrade. The company plans to provide frequent software updates, as often as every three months. Forget fumbling with outdated software—true luxury is at your fingertips with the new system.

Apps, development, and more

The new system is a clean break from Cadillac’s old system. Google’s Android operating system serves as the backbone for the new technology. Catering to coders and software engineers, Cadillac has released a development kit that provides access to about 400 vehicle elements, which is sure to lead to some impressive features and apps in the future.

If anything’s clear, it's that Cadillac is doing everything it can to provide drivers with the best in-car technology. The new, unnamed infotainment system—elegant, responsive, and advanced—will certainly help with that process.
