If you thought a luxury sport sedan couldn’t hold its own with a race car, you’d be mistaken. That’s exactly what happened on an airstrip in California when a modified 2016 Cadillac CTS-V took on a 2015 Dodge Charger Hellcat in a nail-biting half-mile drag race.  The Cadillac not only beat the Charger, it wasn’t even a close race.

Out of the gate, the Dodge Charger Hellcat took the lead, as you might expect. But at about the 100-mile-per-hour point, things started to change. That’s when the luxury sport sedan took off, speeding ahead. The Cadillac not only beat the Dodge, it ended the race at 159 mph compared to the Charger’s 150 mph.

To be fair, the Cadillac had some enhancements, including an aggressive camshaft with 550 horsepower to help even the playing field.  While the Charger is capable of a top speed of 204 mph, in the end the Cadillac prevailed. It turned out that the CST-V with its 630 lb-ft torque outfought the Charger’s 650 lb-ft torque.

The latest Cadillac CTS-V is capable of 0-60 in just 3.7 seconds with its available 640-horsepower 6.2L V8. And with advanced handling features like Magnetic Ride Control and Brembo® front brakes, keeping control of all that power is easy. But power and handling are only the beginning. There’s the 12.3-inch HD reconfigurable gauge cluster, the full-color Head-Up Display, Tri-Zone Climate Control and 20-way adjustable front seats, plus heated outboard rear seats to make sure everyone is comfortable.
