While there are many luxury automakers to choose from, few evoke the type of passion and enthusiasm shared by your average BMW owner. Perhaps that’s because the BMW ownership experience is quite unlike any other, with each and every model offering a unique blend of performance and luxury.
At the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas, the German automaker was keen to show off its own appreciation for BMW owners, with a slew of aftermarket parts from the popular M line, including a number of new performance and cosmetic items aimed at further enhancing your BMW.
The look of a champion
Among the cosmetic upgrades is a new carbon fiber rear wing for the M3. The aerodynamic component is made completely from carbon fiber, including the wing, side sections, and support brackets, and is accentuated with racing stripes.
BMW also introduced a new graphics package that references the look of the classic 3.0 CSL race cars, which astute BMW fans will recall earned BMW its first motorsport victories in North America.
BMW also debuted a new M performance alloy wheel that, beginning in the summer of 2017, will be available on the M2, M3, and M4. There’s also a new M Sports Steering Wheel wrapped in Alcantara with carbon-fiber trim.
Style and substance
BMW also unveiled a new adjustable suspension system for the M3 and M4, which allows drivers the ability to lower ride height by 5 millimeters to 20mm.
Another exciting new addition is the M Power & Sound kit, which is now available for 340i sedan and 440i coupe/convertible models. Until recently, the kit has only been available in Germany, and it increases the output of each model’s 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine to 355 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque (355 lb-ft in manual models).
In addition to the performance parts, BMW utilized SEMA to launch a new remote-start system for the 5 Series, X5, and X6. This ultra-convenient system allows owners to start the engine and run the climate control before they get in the car.
