To ensure that every system functions perfectly regardless of environment, the Jaguar F-PACE—Jaguar’s first-ever performance crossover—has been tested in some of the most extreme conditions and inhospitable locations in the world. From the searing deserts and dust of Dubai to the frozen tundra of Northern Sweden, the Jaguar F-PACE continues to prove its credentials where others dare not.

The F-PACE is scheduled to debut stateside in mid-2016. Until then, Jaguar is busy ensuring the F-PACE lives up to the standards of quality and luxury for which the British manufacturer is famous.

“Just as we paid obsessive attention to detail over the engineering of every single component, we've exhaustively tested the F-PACE in the most challenging conditions to ensure that it will exceed the expectations of our customers around the world," said, Andrew Whyman, Vehicle Program Director, Jaguar F-PACE, in a press release.

To say those environments were “challenging” is a bit of an understatement from Whyman. In Arjeplog, Northern Sweden, where the F-PACE was tested on Jaguar’s purpose-built handling tracks, temperatures rarely exceed -15°C and routinely drop below -40°F.

As if that wasn’t enough, the track itself consists of mountain climbs, inclines, split-friction straights and off-road areas—all of which helped Jaguar engineers optimize the calibration of the all-wheel drive system, Dynamic Stability Control, and Jaguar’s revolutionary All-Surface Progress Control.

Like the ice and snow of Sweden, the sun-seared deserts of Dubai were equally unsuccessful deterring the F-PACE’s progress. Despite temperatures exceeding 122°F (in the shade), everything from the F-PACE’s climate control systems and infotainment touchscreens held up in the extreme desert heat and humidity.

In short, the F-PACE’s rigorous testing ensures that when it launches next year, Jaguar’s first-ever performance crossover will be nothing short of exceptional. The special attention paid to it design during development means the F-PACE is on course to set a new benchmark in the performance crossover segment.
