BMW’s most famous tagline is “The Ultimate Driving Machine,” and with the latest news about the 2016 BMW M2, it’s clear that this new model is exactly that. Although the very popular 2-Series has had an M variant in the form of the M235i, the world has yet to see a full on M car come to fruition…until now. Introducing the very first BMW M2- a loaded gun for the racetracks of the world.

Of course, there’s more to the M2 than just badging. The transformation from 2-Series to M2 includes a number of powerful upgrades to BMWs outstanding Inline 6 cylinder engine, clever ways of improving agility from the rear wheels, and refinements to the lightweight aluminum M suspension. Without question, the M2 is the ultimate choice for those who are serious about high-performance driving.

This exciting display of power is made possible by the engine’s closed-deck design. Keeping the cylinder water jacket closed on top results in high cylinder pressures. This, in turn, results in greater torque and power output.

The M2 is just as marvelous on the outside as it is under the hood. In addition to featuring hallmark BMW design notes—its swage line, for example, which rises from the front axle and sweeps boldly toward the rear of the vehicle—the 2016 BMW M2 has a look that’s all its own. The horizontally arranged LEDs in its L-shaped rear lights, for example, are just one of many features that accentuate its athletic appearance and wide, aggressive stance,
