When Nissan debuted the NISMO variant of its GT-R supercar, it chose the perfect venue: the world-famous Nürburgring race course, renowned for its performance chops. It's also a place with which the Nissan GT-R NISMO is intimately acquainted: only this course's challenging curves could provide the ideal playground during this intimidating model's tuning and development.

Re-engineered for an exhilarating new experience

The GT-R NISMO takes a cue from the GT-R Premium for its aggressive new front end, which features an enlarged dark chromes "V-motion" grill that also collects more air to cool the higher-output engine. A reinforced hood and redesigned canards further contribute to the model's aerodynamic design. The GT-R NISMO officially generates more downforce than any other Nissan production car, making it exceptionally stable at the high speeds it calls home.

The performance components have also gotten a NISMO overhaul. All of the model's shock absorbers, springs, and stabilizers have been refined to mesh with the stiffened body structure. That makes a big difference when it comes to overall handling: Nissan claims improved slalom times and cornering performance with an increase of nearly two percent from the previous model.

The heart of the beast

The GT-R NISMO's engine, the all-new "VR38DETT," was built from the ground up for superior performance and draws on Nissan's international motorsports expertise. Get this: Nissan's Takumi-trained technicians hand-assemble each engine in a special clean room, with each final product bearing an aluminum plate that features the name of its craftsman.

"The GT-R NISMO emphasizes the 'R' in its nomenclature. Its direct ties with racing make it at home on any racetrack, providing the highest levels of excitement and exhilaration for the driver," said Hiroshi Tamura, Chief Product Specialist, GT-R. "With the 2017 GT-R as a starting point, the new NISMO version has become a more well-balanced machine, with not just increased performance, but a heightened premium feel overall. It is the result of our ongoing pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure."

The GT-R NISMO is the new face of Nissan performance--don't blink, or you just might miss it. If you're interested in learning more, contact the team at 3Birds Template.
