1. Twin-Turbo V6 Engine
The lifeblood of any car is its engine. Infiniti engineers know this very well, which is why the 2017 Q60 sports a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 VR30 engine that generates 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque in its normal state of tune. The new engine may seem like a brute, but we urge you not to judge a book by its cover. While it is indeed powerful, the Q60’s V6 is smart, too, using two water pumps to enhance cooling under heavy load. According to Infiniti, the 2017 Q70 also utilizes an optical turbo speed sensor that lets the turbine blades spin faster, delivering a 30-percent power boost. Smart and strong? We can get behind that.
2. Super Stylish
Take one look at the nose of the car and it’s clear that style plays an important role in the 2017 Q70’s design. While the small vertical vane just above the grille looks like some sort of aero divider or vortex generator—it’s not. According to Infiniti, it’s purely design-driven and there to evoke emotion. Mission accomplished.
3. Carbon Fiber Interior
Sadly, the term “carbon fiber interior” is bandied about with reckless abandon, and often denotes the look of carbon fiber rather than the real application of the advanced, performance-driven material. Not so in the 2017 Q60. What elevates Infiniti over its rivals is the brand’s attention to detail. Sport models equipped with black interiors will offer a carbon fiber package. Not only does that mean genuine carbon fiber, but Infiniti has also weaved a thread of violent-tinted carbon fiber into the pattern. Cars with white interiors will receive the same treatment, only with a hint of silver instead of violet.
4. Available Electronic Suspension
The 2017 Infiniti Q60 features an all-new, available electronic suspension system. Available on the Q60 Sport model, it offers on-the-fly electronic adjustment of the suspension to Sport and Sport+ modes from the base comfort-tuned setting. Infiniti promises that this results in firmer damper profile, which in turn means more spirited driving performance.
5. All-Wheel Drive
Purists may revere the traditional rear-wheel drive setup in sports cars but the AWD system planned for the 2017 Q60 is no slouch. Rest assured--the Q60 should prove as dynamic in the corners as it does rocketing from a standstill. And just like its engine, the Q60’s AWD system is smart: it split 50/50 front/rear under normal conditions, but can detect when extra forward traction isn’t needed and can revert to 100 percent rear-wheel drive.
