Overview
From truck-like gas guzzlers to modern crossovers, sport-utility vehicles have undergone a remarkable transformation over the past couple of decades, and few vehicles exemplify that more than the Chevrolet Traverse.
It may be a large SUV with available all-wheel drive traction, but the Traverse’s crossover design yields a car-like ride and decent fuel economy for a plus-sized hauler. While it doesn’t have sliding doors, the Traverse does feature an interior that’s as flexible and reconfigurable as a minivan’s, and can hold just as much.
The 2017 Chevrolet Traverse is a dependable crossover SUV that can seat seven or eight depending on configuration and is available in three trim levels: LS, LT, and Premier. Both the LS and LT are subdivided into two variants each, offering plenty of options and customizability when it comes to choosing your Traverse.
The Perfect Ride for…
Anyone who needs to transport a large amount of equipment or multiple passengers on an ongoing basis. While that makes the Traverse the perfect vehicle for touring bands, its style and extensive features list will also appeal to families and road-trippers who want to get to their destinations in comfort and style. With high safety scores and an attractive MSRP of $28,700,* there’s a lot to love about the 2017 Traverse.
Drive & Handling
The 2017 Chevy Traverse is offered with a single powertrain that can do it all. A 3.6-liter V6 produces 281 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque with the standard single exhaust, or 288 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque with the optional dual exhaust. The V6 is mated to a six-speed Hydra-Matic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. That combination allows for a maximum towing capacity of 5,200 pounds.
You wouldn’t think a big crossover would be especially fuel-efficient, but in addition to providing plenty of power and four-wheel traction, the Traverse surprises with EPA-rated gas mileage of 18 mpg combined (15 mpg city, 22 mpg highway) with front-wheel drive and 17 mpg combined (15 mpg city, 22 mpg highway)** with all-wheel drive.
Key Features
Smart Slide® Second-Row Seating
When you’re transporting large groups, every little bit helps. That’s why we love the Smart Slide® second-row seating in the Traverse, which makes it easy to access the third row with a single hand movement.
Chevrolet MyLink
The available Chevrolet MyLink system with 6.5-inch touchscreen display features voice pass-through for seamless integration with compatible smartphones. That means you can get on a call with Grandma or access your music library to pull up the perfect driving soundtrack. You can also add full GPS navigation with maps and points of interest, or keep young ones happy on road trips with the available Rear Seat Entertainment system.
Available Safety Technologies
The 2017 Traverse offers a wide range of safety features to help protect you and your family on the road. Available Forward Collision Alert uses a smart camera sensor to monitor slowing and stopping vehicles and sound an alert to prevent collision, while available Rear Cross Traffic Alert monitors passing traffic behind the vehicle and visually warns you through the rear vision camera. Other available features include Rear Park Assist, Side Blind Zone Alert, and Lane Departure Warning.
Alternative Options
It’s easy to find the right fit with Chevrolet. If your group outgrows the Traverse, look no further than the 2017 Tahoe—America’s best-selling full-size SUV with seating for up to nine. The all-new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is also a great option as a compact crossover with impressive performance, featuring a more stylish exterior, new tech features, and a revamped powertrain lineup for the new generation.
