Drive & Handling
The 2017 Spark comes standard with one peppy 1.4L ECOTEC® DOHC 4-cylinder engine. With 98 hp and 94 lb-ft of torque and Multiport Fuel Injection, this engine ensures optimum fuel economy and responsive handling in city settings.
A five-speed manual transmission comes standard. A Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is also available. Unlike typical examples, this CVT can regulate engine power through one of two settings: a simulated lower gear for quicker acceleration and a higher gear for open-road driving.
The overall drive feel is surprisingly confident for a vehicle in this segment. Thanks to its petite stature, the Spark handles turns with ease, makes parking a breeze, and otherwise navigates the urban grid with style.

There’s also a USB port and four-speaker audio system with auxiliary jack so you can bring your music library with you.
Spark ACTIV
Boasting trail-inspired accents and upscale features that complement its urban-chic design, the new Spark ACTIV is geared toward drivers that want the industrious utility of a crossover but with the fuel efficiency and smart handling of a smaller car. Highlights include unique front and rear fascias with accents influenced by off-road skid plates, as well as a new 15-inch wheel design and a revised suspension that increases the ride height by 0.4 inches.
Alternative Options
Available as a hatchback or sedan, the Chevrolet Sonic offers a similarly exciting driving experience with more space and an available turbocharged engine.
