At 3Birds Template, we already had plenty of reasons to look forward to the new 2016 Volkswagen Passat, but now we have one more. Volkswagen just announced official pricing for the new model starting at $22,440*—the same as the outgoing base model when equipped with automatic transmission.
However, the new Passat also comes standard with a number of new features representing the latest Volkswagen advances in safety and technology. With this new content factored in, Volkswagen says the 2016 Passat offers $1,315 of additional value compared to its predecessor. Excited yet?
One of those enhancements is the second-generation “modular infotainment platform,” or MIB II. The system features a standard touchscreen on all models, with most models utilizing a capacitive touch sensor.
In other words, you can swipe, pinch, and zoom just as you would on your smartphone or tablet. Pair MIB II with the available Volkswagen Car-Net® system, and you’ll have access to one of the most comprehensive suites of connected vehicle services and features in the automotive industry.
Volkswagen is also introducing new safety and driver assistance features in the new Passat. The Automatic Post-Collision Braking System applies the brakes after a “primary” collision has been detected, helping reduce the chance of additional damage from any “secondary” collisions that may follow.
Other new driver assistance features available depending on trim level include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist)
- Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert
- Active Blind Spot Monitor with corrective steering
- Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist)
- Parking Steering Assistant (Park Assist)
Of course, there will be plenty of options beyond the base model to choose from, including the first-ever Passat R-Line available in the U.S. market. At 3Birds Template, our expert associates will be happy to tell you more about this upcoming model. Contact us to get started.
