New for 2016
The Range Rover Evoque continues to improve, with this year's upgrades some of the most robust we've seen so far. For 2016, the Evoque gets revised headlights, LED taillights, and a redesigned rear spoiler. Inside, the Evoque benefits from standard full leather upholstery, Land Rover's InControl™ suite of services and applications, and a revised touchscreen. Rounding out the 2016 Evoque's new features are available full LED headlights, a hands-free power liftgate, lane-keeping assist, a driver drowsiness monitor, and a heads-up display.
An Inspiration to Others
Luxury SUVs are becoming more and more popular, but while many rivals continue to develop models that look great parked outside a driveway, Land Rover continues to develop luxury vehicles of its own that look good and provide supreme confidence when the asphalt turns to dirt. Case in point, the 2016 Range Rover Evoque.
Powertrains and Performance
The 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is powered by a solitary 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It generates 240 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to a smooth-shifting, nine-speed automatic transmission that comes standard with all-wheel drive. As with any luxury and performance SUV worth its weight, the Evoque provides quick acceleration when called upon while also delivering a world-class ride.
Naturally, Land Rovers are famous for their ability to tackle terrain other cars, nevermind luxury, wouldn't even dare. As such the 2016 Evoque comes with the Land Rover's confident and dyanmic Terrain Response system, which independently adjusts engine and transmission response in order to maximize power and performance depending on the road conditions ahead.
When the pavement ends the true fun begins, as the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque imposes itself in muddy conditions. It makes short work of furrowed canyon roads and slippery hills, and ably pushes power to all four wheels—all while absorbing impacts with aplomb. The Evoque even features standard hill start assist and hill descent control systems, which improves handling and stability through uneven terrain.
In addition to all of that, the 2016 Evoque continues to impress with mileage that betrays its crossover classification. With EPA estimates of 24 mpg combined (21 city/30 highway),* the Evoque proves with irrevocable evidence that its talents go beyond mere good looks by showcasing an engine with a modest thirst for fuel but an insatiable appetite for fun and fuel-economy
Features and Trims
The 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is available in four-door and two-door (coupe) models, starting at $41,475.** The four-door model is available in SE, SE Premium, HSE, and HSE Dynamic trim, while the two-door coupe comes standard as an SE Premium model.
The four-door SE model is equipped with many standard features that add to its allure. These include 18-inch 5-Split Spoke Style 506 Alloy wheels with sparkle finish, 12-way grained leather seats with perforated mid-section, and carpet mats with edging. Not be overlooked are the SE's tech features. These include an 11-speaker Meridian™ sound system with CD player, auxilliary audio jack, and two USB ports, as well as Bluetooth® phone and audio connectivity. The real highlight, however, is Land Rover's Land Rover InControl™ Touch Plus Infotainment System with eight-inch high resolution touchscreen, which is both elegant and easy to use.
The Evoque SE Premium adds xenon headlights with LED lighting in addition to other welcome features such as headlight washers, foglights, a hands-free power liftgate, a navigiation system, and access to Land Rover's InControl™ Apps, which enables you to use a variety of supported smartphone apps on your Evoque's touchscreen simply by connecting your device to the InControl™ Apps USB port.
Next up is the four-door-exclusive HSE trim. It includes 19-inch 10-Spoke Stle 103 Alloy Whels with Sparkle Finish, a fixed panoramic glass roof with integrated power sun blind automatic high beam assist, 12-way Oxford Leather seas, heated front seats, configurable interior mood lighting, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.
The HSE Dynamic adds its own unique and dynamic body styling, perforated Oxford Leather steering wheel, illuminated treadplates, exhaust finisher, and rear aero flip spoiler.
For the truly discerning driver, the Evoque can also be customized with a number of individual options packages. There is a rear-seat entertainment system, a head-up display, LED adapative lights, and a 360-degree parking camera. A Black Design package is also available for the HSE Dynamic trim that adds 20-inch wheels, darkened fog- and headlights, and black exterior touches.
Design
An eye-pleasing clamshell hood and pinched greenhouse are but two styling highlights for the 2016 Evoque. While the majority of the exterior carries over from the previous model year, potential owners will be more than pleased thanks to the car’s forward-thinking design. With the same athletic stance and raked front-end, the Evoque is the poster-child for what a modern luxury crossover can and should be. And while discerning types will surely gravitate to the more practical four-door model, those more obsessed with form over function will happily retire to their two-door models.
In contrast to the space-age exterior is a more straightforward interior. As expected, material quality is of the highest caliber. Other details, like buttons and switches, have a quality feel, while seating is both comfortable and supportive. Despite its pinching roofline, passenger space is good with enough space to accommodate three passengers in the second row. Drivers concerned with cargo room need not worry as both models offer up ample space. For the four-door, 51 cubic feet is on hand with the rear seats folded down, while that number dips slightly in the two-door at 47.6 cubes.
Safety
Standard safety features on all 2016 Range Rover Evoque models include antilock brakes, stability and traction control, trailer sway control, front side airbags and side curtain airbags. Also standard are front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera.
Optional safety equipment includes the aforementioned blind-spot monitoring, a 360-degree parking camera, and an adaptive cruise control system that’s bundled with a frontal collision warning system, which is capable of applying the brakes when an imminent collision is detected.
Bottom Line
There is no ignoring the 2016 Evoque’s allure. It’s a model that exudes confidence so much so that it instantly pulls you in with its unmatched style. But as we’ve pointed out, the Evoque is no one-trick pony. On top of ground-breaking design, it doles out true-to-form Land Rover performance while returning excellent fuel economy and showcasing all the luxurious content you’ve come to expect from Land Rover.
Of course, you could take us at our word that the Range Rover Evoque is unlike any other luxury and performance crossover available today, but you don't have to. For more information, or to schedule your own test drive, contact us online or stop by 3Birds Template today.
