7-Passenger Heaven
If you’re in the market for a new seven-passenger SUV that incorporates impressive levels of standard equipment and innovative safety technology, we highly recommend the 2016 INFINITI QX60. Already one of the most feature-rich models in its class, INFINITI has made the 2016 QX60 even more attractive, adding new shocks and springs, resulting in steering that’s even more responsive, as well as other interior improvements that make the QX60 a treat to drive and divine to be in.
Performance
The 2016 INFINITI QX60 is available with two powertrain options, one straight gasoline internal-combustion, the other a gasoline-electric hybrid.
The first option is a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 265 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. It comes mated to a CVT automatic transmission, with a choice of standard front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The QX60 also features the INFINITI Drive Mode Selector with a rotary knob that allows drivers to switch between Standard, Sport, Eco, and Snow driving modes, depending on conditions. The transmission also has a manual mode that simulates shifting gears.
With front-wheel drive, this version of the QX60 gets an EPA-rated 23 mpg combined (21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway)*, or 22 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway)*, with all-wheel drive.
For truly impressive fuel economy, there’s also the QX60 Hybrid. This model features a 2.5-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, which put out a combined 250 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor gets its power from a lithium-ion battery pack and takes advantage of the same CVT as the standard V6 model.
Like the V6 model, the QX60 Hybrid is offered with a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. With front-wheel drive, it gets an EPA-rated 26 mpg combined (26 mpg city, 28 mpg highway)*, while the all-wheel drive version gets essentially the same fuel economy, but loses 1 mpg* in the city category.

Design
The 2016 INFINITI QX60 takes styling elements from the brand’s cars and translates them into the larger crossover format for an attractive package. For 2016, the QX60 benefits from a redesigned grille, which further elevates the crossover's exterior to new heights.
On the inside, a flat-platform floor enhances interior space, while 60/40 split-folding second row and 50/50 split-folding third-row seats make it easy to switch between carrying passengers and carrying cargo. The second row is specially designed to allow it to be moved with a child seat installed--allowing easy access to the third row, even when the little ones are in tow.
Up front, the QX60 features INFINITI’s signature “wave” instrument panel for a more stylish look. And while the QX60 has always provided a quiet ride, the 2016 model adds acoustic glass and new engine mounts that further reduce the amount of noise transmitted into the cabin.
Safety
Standard safety equipment on the 2016 INFINITI QX60 includes anti-lock brakes, stability and traction controls, a full array of airbags, and a RearView Monitor camera.
In addition, there are several electronic safety systems available as options, including INFINITI’s AroundView® Monitor with Moving Object Detection and front and rear sonar system, which is available as part of the Premium Plus Package.
There’s also the Driver Assistance Package, which adds Intelligent Cruise Control, brake assist, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, Backup Collision Intervention, and Distance Control Assist, as well as other non-safety related features.
Finally, the Technology Package includes lane-departure warning and prevention, blind-spot intervention, and front Pre-Crash Seat Belts.
Verdict
