New for 2015

The 2015 Volvo XC70 marks the introduction of Volvo’s all-new Drive-E powertrain family with the T5 Drive-E engine paired with a new transmission and ECO+ technology. This brings the XC70’s powertrain options up to three unique choices while at the same time retaining the model’s spacious versatility. City Safety™ (featuring smart automatic braking technology) now comes standard, and front passengers now get standard power adjustment.

Cross-country comfort in an eco-friendly package

When Volvo updated the XC70 with new front and rear styling and bolder proportions last year, it made already great choice for a luxury wagon even better. The XC70 now has a decidedly stylish exterior to match its many passenger comforts and cargo space. The 2015 model’s eco-friendly powertrain also makes it a great choice for luxury drivers who don’t mind getting a little extra value at the same time. Of course, if you’re looking for even more performance capability, you’ll find plenty to love with the two other powertrain options.

Powertrains and Performance

Volvo has put plenty of design effort into the new T5 Drive-E, and it shows. This 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine is capable of 240 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque, and is paired with a brand-new eight-speed “Geartronic” automatic transmission for increased efficiency and performance. Front-wheel drive is standard. When you get behind the wheel, there’s a good chance you’ll fall in love with the smooth shifts this setup provides.

The new Drive-E technology also includes ECO+ fuel-saving technology, which Volvo says will help drivers improve fuel economy by five percent (this may vary based on factors like driving style, temperature, and climate). That makes a big difference at the pump.

For more traction on the road, look to the available 3.2-liter six-cylinder standard on the XC70 3.2 AWD. This engine takes advantage of a six-speed “Geartronic” automatic transmission and All-Wheel Drive Instant Traction to provide dependable grip in all situations. When a tire loses traction, the Haldex® AWD system reduces power to that wheel and instantly transfers it to wheels with more grip. A turbo-charged 3.0-liter six-cylinder comes standard on the T6 AWD.

Features and Trims

Volvo makes it easy for drivers to get just what they’re looking for out of the XC70. T5 Drive-E and 3.2 AWD models are available in base, Premier, Premier Plus, and Platinum trims, while the T6 AWD is available in Premier, Premier Plus, or Platinum. A power passenger seat now comes standard on all models, along with amenities like a power front driver seat with memory, Electronic Climate Control (ECC), and a flat-folding three-split 40/20/40 rear seat.

A high-performance eight-speaker sound system is standard and includes a 7-inch color touchscreen, Bluetooth®, and USB/iPod® connectivity for your on-the-go audio needs. Standard on the Platinum model (and available on all models) is the Volvo Premium Sound System with Dolby® Pro Logic® II surround sound.

Sensus Connected Touch (available with and without Navigation) is an optional accessory, allowing you to connect your vehicle to the Internet and take advantage of a variety of embedded apps. The Climate Package (including heated windshield, heated front and rear seats, interior Air Quality System) and Technology Package (Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection with Full Auto Brake, Active High Beam, Road Sign Information, and more) are also available on all XC70 models.

Safety Features

The 2015 Volvo XC70 comes standard with the world-first technology debut of City Safety. This driver support system aims to prevent or mitigate certain collisions by pre-charging brakes or automatically applying brake pressure. It’s an advanced and clever system that should help drivers feel even more secure behind the wheel.

A height-adjustable integrated booster cushion is now optional on all trim levels and works in tandem with an extended inflatable curtain, providing exceptional safety for children in the rear seat. Dynamic Stability and Traction Control, and Intelligent Driver Information System, and driver and front passenger airbags are all included on every XC70.
