New for 2015

The 2015 Infiniti Q70 boasts updated exterior styling inspired by the smaller Q50, reshuffled interior options and equipment, and a new long-wheelbase Q70L model.

More than a Stiff Suit

Many luxury sedans are like business suits. They’re clean, restrained, and convey status. If you want a luxury sedan that does a little more than that, check out the 2015 Infiniti Q70. With extroverted styling and powerful engines, the Q70 makes a bolder statement, and won’t leave you bored and waiting for the lease to end.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2015 Infiniti Q70 is available with three powertrain options, as well as either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

First up is a 3.7-liter V6 that produces an impressive 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, it’s rated by the EPA at 21 mpg combined (18 mpg city, 26 mpg highway) with rear-wheel drive,* and 20 mpg combined (18 mpg city, 24 mpg highway) with all-wheel drive.*

That makes for a pretty sporty sedan, but the optional 5.6-liter V6 turns the Q70 into a muscle car in a fashionable suit. It puts out 420 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque, and is coupled to the same seven-speed automatic as the V6. That combination is still good for 19 mpg combined (16 mpg city, 24 mpg highway) with rear-wheel drive,* and 18 mpg combined (16 mpg city, 23 mpg highway) with all-wheel drive.*

If fuel economy is your main concern, though, consider the Q70 Hybrid. Available only in short-wheelbase form with rear-wheel drive, it pairs a 3.5-liter V6 and seven-speed automatic with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack.

The system’s combined output is a healthy 360 hp, while EPA-rated fuel economy takes an appreciable leap to 31 mpg combined (29 mpg city, 34 mpg highway).*

Features and Trims

The Infiniti Q70 is only available as a four-door, five-seat sedan, but the new-for-2015 Q70L model provides the option of extra rear legroom. Pricing starts at $49,850** for the base short-wheelbase Q70 3.7 with rear-wheel drive.

That price buys a long list of standard features, including LED headlights and taillights, 10-way power driver’s and front passenger’s seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Optional equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, a Bose® Studio Surround sound system, and a navigation system with voice recognition, traffic and weather information, and Infiniti Connection telematics. The latter is part of a Premium Package that also includes semi-aniline leather seating with front-seat climate control, and Infiniti’s Around View Monitor.

Exterior/Interior

The Infiniti Q70 gets a styling reinvigoration for 2015. Already one of the most handsome sedans in its class, the 2015 model gets updated styling that pulls cues from the smaller Q50 sedan to give it a fresher, sportier appearance.

Those changes include new headlights and taillights, a large double-arch grille, and redesigned front and rear bumpers. A Sport Package is also available, adding a little more visual presence with a unique front fascia, as well as sport-tuned suspension and some interior upgrades.

The interior features a flowing dashboard and center console with standard Japanese Ash wood trim. For something you won’t see in any other car, Infiniti also offers wood with silver brushed in as part of the Deluxe Touring Package. For a sportier look, there’s also the Sport Package’s magnesium paddle shifters and aluminum pedal accents.

To make the space as pleasant to be in as it is to look at, Infiniti also gave the 2015 Q70 active noise cancellation, which uses microphones to detect offending noises and a speaker that projects sound on a canceling frequency.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the 2015 Infiniti Q70 includes anti-lock brakes, stability and traction controls, dual-stage front airbags, and front-seat-mounted and roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags.

In addition, an available Technology Package includes several electronic driver aids. Among them are blind-spot monitoring and blind-spot intervention, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist, and backup collision intervention. It also includes adaptive cruise control and Predictive Forward Collision Warning, which monitors traffic ahead and anticipates potential collisions.

Bottom Line

The 2015 Infiniti Q70 is a midsize luxury sedan with more character than the competition. The vehicle’s styling and wide array of powertrains help the Q70 stand out in a crowded segment, and the updates for the 2015 model year only make it better.
