New for 2015
The 2015 Cadillac SRX receives 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi-hotspot capability through its standard OnStar telematics system.
Brightness among the Dim
The luxury market is a competitive place, but thankfully the 2015 Cadillac SRX has all the tools needed to deliver a unique and compelling crossover SUV experience. It’s a shining light in a segment that has become oversaturated and dim.
Indeed, drivers searching for a stylish and sophisticated SUV will appreciate all that the latest SRX has to offer, including a powerful engine, cutting-edge technology, and signature Cadillac refinement.
Powertrains and Performance
Each and every 2015 SRX is powered by a potent 3.6-liter V6 that produces 308 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission; however drivers needing more traction can opt for available all-wheel drive.
Fuel economy and power have become increasingly important to both manufacturers and consumers. In most case, automakers are at odds with the two—forced to focus on one aspect while sacrificing the other. Thankfully, that’s not the case with the 2015 SRX. The V6 engine instills confidence on the road, while netting an EPA-estimated 19 mpg combined (17 city/24 highway) for front-wheel drive models and 18 combined (16 city/23 highway) with all-wheel drive.
The SRX is also incredibly versatile, able to meet the demands of a buys lifestyle. It can tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. So whether it’s a camper or a couple jet skis, the SRX is more than up to the task.
Features and Trims
The 2015 Cadillac SRX starts at $37,605** and is available in Base, Luxury, Performance, and Premium trim levels.
Base models are anything but, and come with a robust list of standard features, which include 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, heated mirror, and keyless entry. Other standard amenities include dual zone climate control, a handy 60/40 split-folding and reclining rear seat, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
On the tech front, the SRX is filled with some of the very best Cadillac has to offer, like its innovative Cadillac User Experience (CUE) system with eight-inch display, the aforementioned OnStar telematics system with 4G LTE Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth® audio and phone connectivity. Adding to the long list of standard features is an eight-speaker Bose® sound system, complete with CD player, satellite and HD radio, and USB port.
The Luxury trims dials up the posh factor even further by adding keyless ignition/entry, automatic wipers, a gorgeous panoramic sunroof, and power liftgate, which makes loading up the SRX’s cargo hold a breeze.
Luxury trim models also get a number of advanced driver’s aids. These include front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera. Other highlights include leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, enhanced climate control system, and even power-adjustable pedals.
The Performance trim feature most of the Luxury trims features but adds a voice-activated navigation system, alongside an upgraded 10-speaker Bose® premium surround-sound audio system (both of which are optional on the Luxury trim). Additionally, Performance models get 20-inch alloy wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, variable-effect power steering, adaptive xenon headlights and fog lights, and adaptive dampers (AWD models only).
Finally, the SRX Premium trim gets all the content from the available Driver Awareness package, which incorporates forward-collision and lane departure warning systems, automatic high beams, and a safety alert driver seat. Also added are tri-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and rear-seat audio controls.
Exterior/Interior
The 2015 Cadillac SRX is an attractive specimen, and one that should have no trouble garnering admirers wherever you are. Its chiseled body and athletic stance are highlighted by a real sense of style, and there are simply no shortage of details to admire. From its prominent creases that jut out behind the front wheels, to its steeply raked hood that slices through the air. It’s the type of SUV that instills confidence by virtue of its solid driving dynamics and its good looks.
The interior is best described as thoroughly modern. Angles, technology, and luxury collide together in one breathtaking stroke, lending the SRX a unique yet fully functional cabin that owners won’t mind returning to again and again.
Safety
Safety has always been a key pillar of Cadillac design, and that’s evident in the SRX’s robust list of standard safety features. In addition to antilock disc brakes and stability and traction control, the SRX comes fully-equipped with front side airbags and side curtain airbags.
Additionally, every SRX model comes equipped with OnStar, which provides a number of invaluable services, such as roadside assistance, turn-by-turn navigation, and remote door unlocking.
Bottom Line
With the SRX, Cadillac has developed a five-passenger crossover-SUV with expressive styling, cutting-edge technology, and power yet efficient standard engine—with plenty of room for passengers and cargo. It’s neither boring nor contrived, standing out for all the right reasons in a segment that has grown stale.
