New for 2015

In addition to relocating content across trim levels, Acura has discontinued the ILX Hybrid from the lineup.

Elegance Without the Exaggeration

The luxury space is changing, and not necessarily for the better. European makes and models are getting bigger with each iteration, and with that increase in size comes an increase in price. Enter the 2015 Acura ILX: the perfect elixir to the swelling of pomp and price sweeping the luxury marketplace.

As the gateway to Acura’s luxury lineup, the 2015 ILX offers a riveting road experience, without the exorbitant sticker shock associated with its rivals, while mixing in all the ingredients that make Acura models so popular: excellent performance, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional value.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2015 Acura ILX can be had with one of two engines. Base models come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that generates 150 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a standard (and solitary) five-speed automatic transmission.

If you’re looking for extra punch from your powertrain consider the ILX 2.4. It sports an upgraded 2.4-liter engine that delivers 201 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. Whereas the base ILX offered a solitary five-speed automatic, 2.4 models employ a six-speed manual, making it the model of choice for enthusiasts and driving purists alike.

Buying a premium sedan doesn’t always mean sacrificing efficiency for fun. While the ILX delivers entertaining performance, it’s also remarkably fuel efficient. Base 2.0-liter models earn an EPA-estimated 28 mpg combined (24 city/35 highway).* Meanwhile, 2.4-liter models prove just as miserly, earning 25 mpg combined (22 city/31 highway).*

Features and Trims

Before you can drive away in your own ILX, you’ll need to select from one of four trim levels: 2.0, 2.0 with Premium package, 2.0 with Technology package, and 2.4 with Premium package.

Despite its role as the gatekeeper to Acura’s luxury lineup, the 2015 ILX acquits itself rather well when it comes to premium content. Standard features in base models include a sunroof, heated mirrors/seats, and an eight-way power driver seat. Standard tech features run the gamut from Bluetooth® audio and phone connectivity, to a seven-speaker sound system with integrated CD player and USB/iPod interface. Active noise cancellation technology also ensures the ILX’s cabin remains incredibly quiet during operation.

Of course, if you’re looking for even more goodies, the ILX 2.0 with Premium package and 2.4 with Premium Package are happy to oblige. In addition to amenities listed above, Premium package models add xenon headlights, foglights, satellite radio, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Finally, if it’s technology you're looking for, the 2.0 with Technology package adds a navigation system, larger display, AcuraLink telematics, a 10-speaker ELS surround-sound system, and GPS-linked climate control.

Exterior/Interior

The 2015 Acura ILX is a rare breed in the premium segment. While other makes and models turn to shock value to spur sales and turn heads, the novelty of these strategies quickly wear off. Instead, Acura has chosen sophistication over sensationalism, elegance over exaggeration. And it shows.

On the outside, the ILX is instantly recognizable by its athletic stance and 17-inch standard wheels. In place of jagged edges and disjointed lines, the ILX sports a much more fluid design that sweeps back from hood to roof and drops softly down the vehicle’s C-pillar.

Inside, the ILX is equally pleasing. Soft touch materials and a smart cabin configuration are but two highlights, while a large, standard five-inch display add to the car’s premium credentials. Drivers will also appreciate the ILX’s simple black-on white gauges and multifunctional steering wheel, which places a number of controls conveniently at your fingertips.

Safety

The ILX is a smart luxury sedan and as such sports a robust list of standard safety features. These include standard antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints. A rearview camera is also standard, adding another layer of safety and value to the ILX lineup.

Bottom Line

All cars are designed to perform but few cars perform as well as the 2015 Acura ILX. A relatively new model in Acura’s lineup, the ILX is quickly establishing itself as a conduit for exceptional road manners value, and fun. That is also provides outstanding fuel-economy without forgoing the qualities we all look for in a premium sedan is a testament to Acura’s engineering prowess.

Add in the fact that the ILX starts at a modest $27,050 MSRP** and you’re left with one mouthwatering proposition. Feel free to contact or head over to 3Birds Template to test drive one today. After you pick your jaw up from the floor that is.
